Before the New Season 2003/2004

The Amateur Polish Championship title went to already known in the world pair- Agnieszka Melnicka and Sergiej Sourkow. The second place was taken by Julia Rogozina and Przemek Lowicki, and the third by Aneta and Derek. This was the end of the first day - the winners and the presentation of the couples. The third pair informs the audience that their coach is among the judges. At this moment further presentation of the couples' trainers is abandoned. It was obvious for everyone that Mela with Sergiej and Julia with Przemek would represent our country at the World championships in Saint Petersburg. We all know what actually happened. The second day was also full of excitement. A couple from Warsaw Marta Sztobryn and Georgij Korolov bravely joined Aneta and Derek in their struggle to win the Polish Championship. Marta and Georgij started their race to represent Poland in Singapore. It all complied with the PTT' regulations. I am talking about the points in the standing. We all know them. What happened later? We also know it. Also in Słupsk the youth fought for their championship titles. Sylwia Maczek with Piotr Krajenskiand Natalia and Paweł Sakowicz came out with the medals.

Wiosenny The spring calendar this year is also abundant with other major tournaments in Poland and abroad. It is worth mentioning a very well organized Eurodance Festival in Szczecin, Mazovia Open in Pruszkow (Jacek Grabowski's debut as an organizer), Tropicana Cup in Mikolajki, Dancing Gala in Gliwice, Dance Festival in Zabrze and others. A lot of these tournaments have already acquired a permanent place in Polish and IDSF's schedule.

My Let's recall in more detail Tropicana. After last year event, which brought us a lot of excitement thanks to the visit by Mr Dorkhov ( I recommend an article by Roman Szabatin on dancesport.pl),this year we directed our special attention to the competition of Polish and mainly "Russian-language" pairs. This time except the possibility of competing in the tournament the trainees of the refereeing Shrley Balas gave us a magnificent performance. Tropicana'2003 also saw a debut on the Polish floors made by the Czech Champions - Ewa Szabatin and Jan Kliment. We all know what the results were. We all recognised them humbly. The undoubtedly greatest attraction of the tournament was the show delivered by Paul Kilick and Hanna Kartunen. All Latin lovers were delighted.
