Before the New Season 2003/2004

And now - the amateurs. The championship went to reliable, modest and talented Małgorzata Garlicka and Wiktor Kiszka. The second place was taken by a pair from Zielona Gora - Karina Nawrot and Andrzej Sadecki. It has to be noted that Polish youth (in accordance with the Polish regulations) was able to join the amateur competition. And, so they did. It even was quite successful as the third place went to the already mentioned couple Paulina and Vaidotas. Another Latin pair will also take advantage of this rule, but I will talk about it later. In May both pairs reached the semi-finals.

Hardly had two weeks passed when I went to seek new dance excitement to Słupsk, where I could admire an ewent, traditionally professionally prepared by Elzbieta and Adam Zieciak. Those were Polish Championships in Latin. The first day belonged to amateurs. The atmoshere in the audience was heated by the news that Aneta Piotrowska and Derek Hough - the current champions in Youth Latin - were going to take part in the tournament. Again it was due to the liberal PTT's regulations which allowed this pair to compete in both categories: amateurs and youth. The winning pair was handed a money prize which was another highlight of that day. Everybody knew that on the next day they were going to compete in their category to win the Polish Champioship. Parents' and teachers' lobby talks evolved around the official PTT ban on giving lessons or earning through dance any money by amateur pairs. Several couples had to sign a special list confirming their complete amateur activity. I know it from the dancers from Warsaw's "Stodola".
